Any easy (and free) way to advance independent film is by donating your computer’s idle time. This time can be used, along with millions of others, to render 3D images for special effects.

To get started…

  1. Download BOINC, a program by the University of Berkely.
  2. Once installed, select the BURP rendering project.
    1. Open BOINC manager, if it isn’t already open.
    2. Click on the ‘Add Project’ button.
    3. Select ‘Add Project’ in the first screen and click Next.
    4. In the project url textbox at the bottom of the next screen, enter http://burp.renderfarming.net
  3. If necessary, follow the instructions to create a login.
  4. When prompted, select 1000Studios as your team.
  5. (Optional) Click the Preferences button at the bottom of the BOINC window. Select which times to perform work and whether it should be done when idle only or at all times.
